Environment
The Environment Sector in Africa is critical for safeguarding biodiversity, combating climate change and supporting sustainable livelihoods that depend on the Continent’s rich natural resources.
Africa faces significant environmental challenges including the increasing importance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) compliance. The Continent faces issues such as deforestation, soil erosion, and desertification, driven by unsustainable agricultural practices and urbanization. These challenges not only harm ecosystems but also heighten scrutiny on companies and governments to address their environmental impact in line with ESG standards. Water scarcity and pollution, including plastic waste and industrial contaminants, present further challenges, as these issues directly affect communities and ecosystems, creating tension between economic development and environmental preservation. Climate change exacerbates these problems, with more frequent droughts, floods, landslides and extreme weather events, all of which impact food security, economic stability and the livelihoods of millions.
ACLAIM helps address these challenges through:
- Conducting Business Trainings for entrepreneurs that deal in eco-friendly energy sources like briquettes and bio gas from animal waste;
- Developing Strategic Plans for not-for-profits to carry out awareness in rural areas on how to address climate change;
- Conducting Monitoring and Evaluation of projects involved in tackling environmental challenges;
- Providing Outsourced Procurement Services to entities that supply clean and affordable energy, like solar panels; and
- Supporting organisations to identify and document their ESG impact and compliance; among many others.
